Town Board to Consider Moratorium

August 10, 2007. The Ithaca Journal has published an article covering the Town Board's consideration of a moratorium.

August 9, 2007. At the next Town Board meeting (this Monday at 5:30), Board Members will take up several items concerning a moratorium on development in the Northeast. The four items, according to the agenda posted on the Town's website, include:

*Discussion of proposed local law providing for a moratorium on development in the northeast corner of the Town for a period of one hundred eighty (180) days

*Consider referral of proposed local law providing for a moratorium on development in the northeast corner of the Town for a period of one hundred eighty (180) days to Planning Board for a recommendation to Town Board

*Consider setting public hearing regarding proposed local law providing for a moratorium on development in the northeast corner of the Town for a period of one hundred eighty (180) days

*Discussion of hiring consultant to study and report to Town Board on biological and ecological features of lands subject to proposed development moratorium

The possibility of a moratorium on development is momentous and we eagerly await the discussion at Monday's meeting.

The meeting takes place at Town Hall, 215 N. Tioga St., downtown Ithaca. The meeting begins at 5:30.
